The Associate General Counsel, Technology, Intellectual Property, Privacy and Sourcing (TIPPS) will play a crucial role in navigating the legal issues surrounding Moody's digital footprint and supporting our high-tech business initiatives globally. This role requires a driven attorney with a proven track record related to cutting-edge technology (including artificial intelligence), intellectual property advice and defense/protection, cybersecurity, data privacy and security, and complex sourcing transactions, particularly with large technology vendors such as hyperscalers and SaaS providers. The right candidate will be comfortable providing pragmatic guidance and direction to business leaders and managing a globally distributed team of attorneys. Responsibilities Manage a globally distributed team of attorneys handling technology (with a strong emphasis on Artificial Intelligence), intellectual property, privacy, cybersecurity, and sourcing legal matters. Advise on legal matters arising from complex technologies, especially AI-related issues. Provide legal guidance on AI governance, including interpreting law and advising on legal and regulatory matters globally related to AI. Stay informed of relevant new laws and regulations in jurisdictions where Moody's operates, including data localization requirements, and advise on their impact. Collaborate with Risk and other stakeholders to build and maintain a comprehensive AI governance program aligned with the EU AI Act and other laws. Oversee responses to information security incidents and provide guidance on cybersecurity measures, policies, and incident response plans. Manage global data privacy team and ensure compliance across jurisdictions, advising on privacy issues related to products and practices. Negotiate vendor procurement agreements, including with large hosting providers and outsourcing arrangements. Address issues from regulatory obligations on sourcing, including DORA and similar resilience regulations. Prosecute intellectual property rights and manage disputes involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Assist with due diligence for M&A transactions regarding technology and IP issues. Advise on emerging technology law issues, including Digital Finance initiatives. Collaborate with risk, compliance, security, procurement, and business teams, as well as top business leaders. The Team You will manage a dynamic global team responsible for cutting-edge technology legal issues. The position is based in New York City and reports to the General Counsel of Moody's Corporation, sitting on the Senior Leadership Team for Legal and Compliance. Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications At least 15 years of relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or as in-house counsel, focusing on technology, IP, cybersecurity, privacy, and sourcing. Extensive experience negotiating technology agreements, including licenses, SaaS, and cloud contracts. Strong technical interest in emerging technologies. Management experience with global teams. Highly motivated, curious, and adaptable to evolving technology and business initiatives. Business acumen, strong work ethic, and practical, client-focused solutions. Collaborative team player with a good sense of humor. J.D. from an accredited law school, strong academic credentials, and admission to at least one state bar. Preferred: CIPP-US or other IAPP qualification. For US-based roles: The anticipated salary range is $231,400 - $335,500, plus incentive compensation and benefits.
