BAE Systems is seeking a Project Manager to support the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) for the Nuclear Armed, Sea Launch Cruise Missile (SLCM-N) program, a new high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system in development phase. The candidate needs to be a detail-oriented self-starter who can quickly come up to speed on new technologies and works collaboratively with staff, peers, leadership, and customers to successfully deliver major programs. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously. As a program project manager, you represent the technical program managers and staff to liaison with the SLCM-N Program Manager in the following activities:
Program Management:
- Manage the SLCM-N technical project (s) and serve as a liaison between the SLCM-N PM and planning, project team, and line management providing technical and analytical guidance to the project team(s).
- Prepare and manage the Master Project Plan using a hybrid agile/waterfall methodology, establish a governance framework, maintain weekly work management cadence to ensure timely completion of deliverables, and achievement of milestones that identifies technical, and business resources needed.

- Collaborate with customer stakeholders to manage all phases of the implementation lifecycle including: requirements, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment, ensuring customer alignment and satisfaction.
- Ensure high-quality, value-added communications, status reporting, issue resolution, and stakeholder management across customer leadership, managers, and program staff.
- Conduct regular program reviews and status meetings.
- Prepare and present status reports to senior leadership as needed.
- Maintain a repository of program documentation and lessons learned.
- Assesses issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Cost Management:
- Create, provide, and maintain annual Basis of Estimates and recommend a Work Package and program Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to align with and capture the technical work to be performed.
- Understand and use Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques.
- Provide process feedback and report project performance to the Technical Managers and SLCM-N and PMO Cost Control Manager.
- Reviews status of projects and budgets and provides recommendations on keeping on scope, schedule, and budget.
Schedule Management:
- Ensure technical program compliance with baseline change control processes.
- Liaison with planners to maintain an accurate Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
- Provides schedule status reports to meet technical staff guidelines.
- Provide process feedback and report project performance to the Technical Managers and SLCM-N and PMO Schedule Manager.
Quality Management:
- Coordinate and lead technical staff preventive action process reviews and corrective action planning and implementation.
- Represent the Technical Program Area Representatives to resolve all quality related items.
- Provide process feedback and report project performance to the Technical Managers and SLCM-N and PMO Quality Manager.
Risk Management:
- Identify technical risk(s) and make recommendations to the technical staff to establish and track technical mitigation plans.
- Communicate internal and external risks and appropriate mitigations to applicable stakeholders.
- Provide process feedback and report project performance to the Technical Managers and SLCM-N and PMO Risk Manager.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Minimum education and related/relevant work experienc required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or other related technical field and 4+ years of experience as a project manager overseeing complex portfolios of projects.
Must Currently Possess -Secret
Additional skills/experience required:
- PMP certification
- Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, navigate at the expert level with program management methodologies and frameworks
- Proven experience in delivering large-scale DoD systems engineering programs
- In-depth understanding and experience with cross program Risk Management, Schedule Management, and Status Reporting
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Master's degree in applied science, computing, engineering, mathematics, physics, management information systems, or another related engineering or computer science discipline
- Supervisory Experience
- Systems Engineering experience
- OCSMP or CSEP certification
- Experience supporting Navy SSP Strategic Weapons System
- Experience with SSN Virginia Class Submarines
- Experience with Tomahawk Missile Attack Weapon System (AWS)
